You will serve as a SUPERVISORY CHEMIST in the LAB QUALITY & ACCREDIT OFFICE (1561), QUALITY PERFORMANCE CONTROL DIVISION (1560), NAVALY SHIPYARD SUPPORT OFFICE (1500) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

Experience conducting assign research, development, test, training, and evaluation programs as directed;
Experience formulating long and short-range program plans for maintenance, development and improvement for Laboratory analytical capabilities to meet immediate and projected customer requirements;
Experience in developing Division-wide operating budgets, training plans, and equipment procurement plans;
Experience managing a technical laboratory, plan and direct professional scientific work, including research and development;
Experience in Federal laws and guidelines pertaining to environmental analysis laboratory's third party accreditation requirements, statistical quality control methods and auditing.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess:

Degree: physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering that included 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by course work in mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics.

OR

Combination of education and experience -- course work equivalent to a major as shown in A above, including at least 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
