Job Summary

The Protein Scientist will be responsible for performing protein quantification, protein characterization, protein identification, and related sample preparation. This role is crucial for advancing our research and development projects in the company .

Job Description

  • Protein Quantification
    • Perform ELISA for protein quantification, including automated and semi-automated
    • Perform western (WES) assays for protein identification and semi-quantification
    • Analyze data, interpret results, and document in data systems
    • Prepare samples for immunoassay needs
    • Participate in shared lab duties and the maintenance of lab equipment
  • Protein Characterization
    • Perform SDS-PAGE and gel imaging
    • Conduct protease digestion and time course experiment analysis
    • Prepare samples for mass spectrometry
  • Protein Purification
    • Express proteins in various systems (e.g., bacterial, yeast, and insect cells)
    • Conduct protein purification using various chromatography techniques
  • Protein Functional Assay
  • Perform protein activity assays, such as enzyme assays and protein binding assays
  • Daily collaboration with teammates, regular lab meetings, data reviews, and project updates.
  • Most often part of the Protein Analytics (10 people) in Lab with cross-functional support occasionally on the Protein Science team (45 people)
  • Research-driven and data-focused, often fast-paced environment
  • Hands-on: 7090% of the time is bench workrunning assays, prepping samples, analyzing gels, etc.

Skills Required

  • Self-starter and motivated
  • Expertise in ELISA and western
  • Strong background with LIMS and liquid handlers
  • Experience with protein expression and purification techniques
  • Familiarity with mass spectrometry methodology
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols and best practices
  • Driven and able to take the lead on their projects

Education/Training/Certifications

  • Masters degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or a related field, or a bachelors degree with relevant experience

Additional Requirements

  • Must pass a drug screening and criminal background check
  • Shift: 07 :00 AM
  • PPE Requirements: gloves, goggles
  • Working Conditions: Wet Lab
  • If lifting, how many pounds: 25lbs max

Pay Rate/Salary

  • Estimated Salary: $34.86 to $42.86 per hour based on qualifications.
