The Language Technologies Institute (LTI) at CMU is a world-renowned research and education hub at the forefront of natural language processing, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and human-computer interaction. Established within the School of Computer Science, LTI pioneers innovative ways to understanding, processing, and generating human language in both written and spoken forms.
We are seeking a Research Assistant. The position will assist course instructors in the development of Python notebooks and corresponding homework exercises for LTI graduate courses (such as 11-411/611 Natural Language Processing and 11-697 Introduction to Question Answering)
Core Responsibilities:- Meet regularly with course instructors to define tasks, communicate progress, and deliver completed work products
- Design and develop Python notebook and Python oriented programming curriculum and tests
- Develop Python notebooks using code libraries relevant to specific courses (Pandas, Hugging Face, etc)
- Test and analyze programmed work

Qualifications:- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Computer Engineering or a similar field
- Solid experience with Python programming and software development
- Experience in developing Python notebooks using Google Collab / AWS
- Statistical tools experience
- A combination of education and meaningful experience from which comparable knowledge is proven may be considered.
