Essential Functions

These are the job duties required of the position.

Essential Functions

• Plans and executes experiments focused on mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance, including design of expression constructs, protein purification, enzyme assays, biophysical measurements, and X-ray crystallography.
• Analyzes biochemical and structural data and proposes next steps in the research program.
• Refines crystal structures for deposition in the Protein Data Bank.
• Prepares manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
• Presents research findings at national and international meetings.
• Assists with the preparation of grant applications.
• Performs day-to-day supervision of trainees in the lab, including high-school, undergraduate and graduate students, as applicable.
• Ensures that lab personnel meet safety and other compliance requirements.
• Serves as the point-of-contact for access to synchrotron facilities and takes the lead in collecting X-ray diffraction data at such facilities.
• Ensures that instrumentation in the lab is functioning correctly and liaises with vendors for service as needed.
• Regular and prompt attendance.
• Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
• Related duties as required.
