Associate Scientist

Description:

• The scientist will conduct analytical experiments to support structural characterization and identification of biological macromolecules using liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry.

• Responsible for maintaining the Protein Open-Access LC/MS platform and collaborating on mass spectrometry-based protein characterization efforts and biological assay development.

Qualifications:

• A B.S. or M.S. in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, or other physical sciences is desired.

• Familiarity with liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry instrumentation, and excellent sample preparation skills.

• Knowledge of laboratory automation is desired but not required.

• The scientist will be expected to consistently work on multiple projects in parallel and be able to adjust to rapidly changing priorities.

• Highly self-motivated, able to work independently in their area of expertise, able to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, must be an outstanding team player and possess excellent communication skills.

• Familiarity with protein structure.

Technical Certification Bonus: Synectics is pleased to award its employees a bonus of up to $500 for an approved professional certification. In determining the bonus amount, Synectics will consider the cost of the test(s) for any certification relating to your current position, achieved during your employment with us. Only one Certification Bonus per calendar year may be awarded per employee. Only current, active employees will be eligible to receive this bonus. It will be awarded 90 days after the Synectics office has received documentation confirming the successful completion of the certification.
