This individual is responsible for performing tasks related to Cell Culture Development (CCD) and may assist with Purification Development (PD) or Analytical Development (AD) activities. This includes laboratory-based studies or execution of assays. The individual performs a variety of routine and non-routine work within established policies and procedures and receives general guidance on new projects and assignments. They actively seek to identify and implement improvements in lab operations. They m ay serve as study director for a lab study and may act as a final reviewer for protocols and reports.
Key responsibilities:
Execution of lab studies and analytical assay work and analytical work according to SOPs with high level of autonomy.
Qualified to perform and plan RCA work.
Designs experiments using the principles of DOE.
Is familiar with more than one discipline (CCD, PD or AD) and may provide support to other areas with supervision.
Presents data at Lab Group and external customer Meetings.
Can quickly find links between data abnormalities and complex process failures and Applies expertise to analyze and tackle problems without clear precedent.
May function as a Lab document owner; performs periodic review of documents.
Established leader in Lean principles, functions as an SME on pieces of routinely used equipment.
Represents MSAT lab on internal, external and Global project teams. Provides regular updates on study related progress and may exert influence and decision-making in customer calls.
Follows all training and policy guidelines established for the facility as well as all cGMP requirements when applicable.
Responsible for Group Specific Activities such as Execution of Satellite runs, scale down models, LIVCA, sophisticated new equipment onboarding experience, Cell culture separation strategies, harvest hold and other process characterization studies associated with mammalian cell culture.
Advanced knowledge of aseptic techniques and mammalian cell culture biology, scale up and mass transfer, bioreactor operation, disc stack centrifugation, filtration and intermediate knowledge of statistical data analysis.
Strong communication, technical writing, organizational and interpersonal skills; Strong computer skills (including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.)
Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences or Chemical Engineering or related field.
Process development and process scale up /manufacturing experience.
Lab bench work and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) experience.
Able to work with advanced techniques in cell culture development.
Experience with downstream or analytical development.
Ability to analyze practices or procedures and evaluate data to propose improvements.

As required by law in this state, the quoted salary range for this position is $129,000 and $219,000. We use broad salary ranges that reflect the competitive market for similar jobs, provide sufficient opportunity for growth as you gain experience and expand responsibilities; while also allowing for differentiation on performance based on the breadth of our ranges, most new hires will start at the company between the lower and the middle part of the applicable range. We tailor our offers within the range based on job-related factors, including organizational needs, internal equity, market data, geographic area and the selected candidates experience, education, industry knowledge, location, technical and/or communication skills and other factors that may prove relevant during the selection process. This range is only inclusive of base salary, and base pay is just one component of Lonzas total compensation package for employees.
