Your impact
Based in theVirginia Beach or Washington D.C. Metropolitan area (location flexible),you'll support environmental projects primarily for our government clients. This is an excellent opportunity for a mid-level environmental chemist to support ongoing environmental investigations and remedial activities at multiple facilities. The individual will be working with internal clients, field staff, and subcontractors (primarily laboratories and data validators) to coordinate field efforts from planning through delivery of analytical results from laboratory and data validator, as well as working with internal teams to prepare associated Site Inspection and Remedial Investigation reports.

Mid-Level Chemists Responsibilities:
- Work with internal teams, laboratories, and data validation subcontractors to prepare Sampling and Analysis Plans for project investigations.
- Attend scoping sessions and kickoff meetings.
- Responds to internal and external/stakeholder comments.
- Apply chemistry knowledge to guide samples and results through a data management process which includes providing support during field investigations, working as a technical liaison between field team and laboratory, conducting analytical data review, reviewing data validation reports, preparing validated data for distribution to internal team, and supporting internal team with associated follow-on report.
- Apply technical knowledge and experience, utilizing SW-846 and other EPA methods on a variety of projects
- Manage laboratory and data validation subcontractors: develop laboratory and data validation scopes of work tailored to meet project needs, maintain communication with subcontractors, perform quality control reviews of reports, and review invoices prior to payment.
- Track laboratory data from field through laboratory, to validation, and finally to project closeout and archiving
- Prepare data tables for reports
- Performs quality control tasks.
- Perform data evaluation and data quality assessments
- Assist with technical writing

Here's what you'll need
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry with 3 - 7 years laboratory/chemistry-related experience.
- Experience working as a consultant/contractor is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of sample collection and laboratory analytical processes
- Knowledge of analytical instrumentation and experience utilizing primarily SW-846 and other EPA methods on a variety of projects
- Knowledge of chemical materials use, storage & shipping requirements
- Knowledge of regulatory process (CERCLA) as it relates to chemistry
- Skills related to data validation and/or data review
- Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision on multiple projects and in a regionally diverse team environment
- Ability to build and maintain successful relationships with co-workers, project teams, clients, and regulatory agencies
- Demonstrated proficiency in technical writing
- Experience using MS Office suite, including Teams, Word, Excel, and Access

The base salary range for this position is $59,900.00 to $85,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
