About the Role:

FL114, Inc. is seeking a Senior Research Associate to join our integrated mRNA Sciences group as a key contributor in our efforts to develop mRNA therapeutics, as well as flexibly contributing to various workstreams across the company. The successful candidate will be an essential member of a close-knit team of experimental scientists driving FL114's product generation engine and supporting a broad set of therapeutic programs. We are looking for an enthusiastic, detail-oriented, adaptive, and highly motivated individual with a passion for bringing novel medicines to patients. Applicants should be comfortable working on a fast-paced, cross-functional scientific team, in an evolving role that will provide a variety of scientific experiences in mRNA therapeutics, epigenetics, and cellular biology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce and analyze high-quality mRNAs to support FL114 programs and partnerships
  • Assist in the development of new and/or improved production and analytical workflows, including chromatography, gel electrophoresis, dot-blot, and bioluminescence
  • Prepare and characterize mRNA-LNPs for in-vitro and in-vivo studies
  • Perform routine and specialized cell culture procedures, including the maintenance and handling of primary human/mouse cells and established cell lines
  • Conduct downstream analytical techniques on cell and tissue samples including qPCR, western blot and ELISA.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records of experimental design, protocols, raw data, and analyzed results.
  • Assist in management of day-to-day laboratory operations including maintenance of equipment, as well as reagent tracking, ordering, and receiving
  • Ensure adherence to laboratory safety practices and regulatory guidelines.

Required Skills:

  • A flexible skill-set and an eagerness to learn and perform a variety of protocols spanning biochemistry, biophysics, molecular biology, and cellular biology
  • Molecular biology techniques, including exposure to in-vitro transcription and biomolecular purification
  • Tissue culture of mammalian cells, both suspension and adherent
  • Preparation of lipid nanoparticles or other lipid-based formulations preferred
  • Familiarity with cell-based assays such as flow cytometry, western blot, qPCR, ELISA, etc. preferred
  • Exposure to high-throughput automation technologies, such liquid handing preferred
  • Exposure to CRISPR-based or other gene editing technologies preferred
  • Detail-oriented with excellent time management and organizations skills
  • Exceptional teamwork and communication skills

Required Qualifications:

  • BS/BA or MS in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering, or related fields
  • Industry experience preferred
