Senior Software Development Engineer (Multiple Positions), Tesla, Inc., Austin, TX:
Serve as a member of the Systems integration team to ensure firmware support for new factory equipment/vehicle features and to ensure new hardware is designed, implemented and tested to achieve Teslas standards for safety and customer experience. Work with the design and development engineers throughout the engineering organization to ensure the relevant subsystems are designed with appropriate requirements, interfaces and interactions to achieve specific factory equipment/vehicle functions. Break down new, high-level feature requests into sub-system and component level requirements, and drive the implementation, testing and release of these features against Teslas firmware release schedule. Develop overall validation strategy for these features and work with validation teams to ensure automated test coverage is implemented for future firmware releases. Develop and execute firmware integration test plans on new hardware components and firmware features to rapidly retire risk from new designs and provide feedback to the development teams to accelerate our aggressive development cycles. Analyze data and to identify and debug issues at the system level and propose robust solutions. Work with manufacturing and with production operations to ensure the s) are rolled out and functioning properly. Collaborate with validation teams to design tests which will validate the functions, interfaces, and interactions of the system. Identify areas of concern, and work with teams to rectify any bugs. Develop prototype test setups to integrate new subsystems with simulated and actual factory equipment/vehicle components.
Full time employment, Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, and four (4) years of related work experience. Alternatively, will accept a Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field and two (2) years of related work experience.
Must have 2 years of experience with one or any combination of the following: C, C++, Golang, Python, or LabVIEW.
Must have 2 years of experience using protocols: CAN, UDS, Protocol Buffers, gRPC, Modbus/TCP, TCP/IP, OPCUA, or MQTT.
Must have 2 years of experience with source control, including Git.
Must have 2 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment or with physical hardware devices.
Must have 2 years of experience interpreting system data to understand logged events.
Must have 2 years of experience debugging low voltage and high voltage circuits.
International travel required up to 5%, domestic travel required up to 15%, in order to bring-up or commission new equipment, troubleshoot production issues, or approve manufacturing testers at supplier facility.
