This position is part of Research and Development team located in Waltham , MA and will be onsite. At Aldevron, we combine best-in-class products and service with the ideal operating environment to lay the groundwork for vital new discoveries worldwide. You will be a part of a cross-functional R&D team focused on Gene Editing and report to the Director of R&D.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead and manage complex R&D projects focused on gene editing technologies, including CRISPR/Cas systems and other nucleases.
  • Drive the development of new gene editing products and improve existing technologies.
  • Utilize advanced analytical techniques to interpret experimental data, draw conclusions, and make strategic recommendations for further research and development.
  • Work closely with scientists, engineers, and product managers to achieve project goals and timelines.
  • Mentor junior scientists and contribute to their professional development.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • PhD in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or related discipline with 3+ years of experience. Or MS degree in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or related discipline with 5+ years of experience. Or BS degree in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or related discipline with 8+ years of experience.
  • Relevant demonstrable experience with CRISPR/Cas systems and other gene editing technologies.
  • Proven track record of successful project leadership and innovation in gene editing technologies as evidenced by publication and/or patent record.
  • Expertise in molecular biology techniques, including PCR, cloning, gene editing, and protein expression. Proficiency with analytical methods such as HPLC, mass spectrometry, and ELISA.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to analyze complex data sets. Experience with statistical software and data visualization tools is a plus.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Culturing primary cells such as T-cells, iPSC, HSC and organoids
  • Ultracentrifugation-based techniques in purification/analysis of gene editing components
