Sr Associate Scientist

Job Description

Join our dynamic team as a Sr Associate Scientist where you will play a pivotal role in advancing genomic research and production work. You will be responsible for performing routine NGS lab duties, including qPCR, multiplexing, and sequencing, and collaborating closely with team members to ensure the timely and effective completion of projects.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine NGS lab duties including qPCR, multiplexing, and sequencing.
  • Collaborate closely with other team members to ensure timely and effective completion of projects.
  • Perform routine maintenance of sequencers and other equipment.
  • Assist with sequencing troubleshooting efforts.
  • Check inventory and replenish consumables.
  • Prepare buffers and related solutions.
  • Develop and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and support a sub-team of Associate Scientist level team.
Essential Skills
  • 5+ years of experience in molecular biology.
  • Experience with NGS-specific lab prep and sequencers.
  • Proficiency in liquid handling.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • BS in Biological Sciences or related discipline with 5+ years of related lab experience required.
  • MS in Biological Sciences or related discipline with 3+ years of related lab experience preferred.
  • Experience in a Next Generation Sequencing lab.
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, customer-oriented environment.
  • Highly motivated and well-organized.
  • Independent, detail-oriented, team player.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to react to situations with a sense of urgency.
Work Environment

You will work in a fast-paced environment within a leading global genomics service company, known for excelling in both science and customer support. This trusted provider for DNA sequencing, gene synthesis, molecular biology, next generation sequencing, bioinformatics, and GLP regulatory services offers specialized expertise and customizable, scalable services. The work environment is serious yet can be laid-back at times, with a team of focused individuals dedicated to getting the job done. The position involves shift work from 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM, including a one-hour lunch break. Training will occur on the first shift from 9 AM to 5 PM, with the first week dedicated to orientation and shadowing trainers, followed by hands-on implementation in the lab.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
