Discovery Biotherapeutics (DBTx) is a dynamic organization that supports the entire continuum of large molecule drug discovery from lead identification to clinical candidate delivery at Bristol Myers Squibb. DBTx leverages state of the art technologies, complemented by deep subject matter expertise and broad scientific knowledge, to deliver innovative and comprehensive preclinical in vitro datasets to support our drug discovery pipeline in disease areas such as oncology, immunology, neuroscience and cell therapy.
The Functional Sciences Group within DBTx is seeking a highly motivated and innovative scientist to support our antibody screening platforms in lead discovery and optimization for oncology, immunology, and neurology disease biology areas. Applicants must have a deep scientific understanding in one of the disease biology areas described above or a related field and have hands-on experience developing complex cellular assays. Furthermore, the successful candidate will be required to develop multiparameter functional assays and to perform high-throughput screening, hit assessment, lead optimization and mechanistic investigations. The incumbent should possess strong collaborative and written/verbal communication skills, demonstrate scientific leadership at the bench and within matrixed teams and personal leadership within the department.

Job Responsibilities
Advance screening technology for various antibody and CAR formats (bi-specifics, ADCs, AOCs, TCEs, CARs) with an emphasis on patho-physiologically relevant cellular models, including co-cultures, organoids, human derived iPSC, primary cells, micropatterned 2D culture, tissue-on-a-chip, or other 3D models.
Design scalable assays with translationally relevant functional readouts, including assays using high content imaging (HCI), flow cytometry or other cutting-edge readout technologies.
Collaborate with automation engineers to implement the assays using automated systems for high-throughput screening.
Develop hit triage plans and mechanistic studies to identify desirable molecules.
Develop compelling scientific presentations and reports for internal review meetings and scientific journals.
Act as the Functional Profiling lead on matrixed teams to drive program strategy, identify gaps and respond dynamically to critical path activities.
Basic Qualifications:
PhD and 1-2 years of industry experience
Preferred Qualification :
PhD in in oncology, immunology or neurology or related field; 1-2 years of post doc experience would be a plus.
Proven expertise with complex cellular assays is a must.
Hands-on experience with experimentation using disease-relevant cellular models, such as co-cultures, primary cells, human derived iPSC, organoids, 3D or tissue-on-a-chip, is required.
Hands-on experience with HCI or flow cytometer and associated data analytics is desirable.
A strong publication record in relevant disease biology or cell biology is desirable.
A strong desire to succeed in cross-functional teams to establish productive collaborations.
Demonstrated excellence in both written and oral communication.
Experience or familiarity with biophysical characterization of large molecules is preferred.
The starting compensation for this job is a range from $118,750 - $143,900, plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility).
The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills and where the job is performed. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
