Overview

We are a fast-growing research and services division within WuXi AppTec, working on the development of cutting-edge, multidisciplinary drug discovery platforms that combine the latest technologies in biology, chemistry, biophysics, engineering, and informatics. We are seeking a highly motivated and collaborative biophysicist to join us. This position is critical to the successful development, implementation, and business operations of biophysics platforms and services for the business unit based in Natick, MA.

Responsibilities
  • Designs and executes SPR, TSA, and other biophysics studies, including protein-small molecule interactions, protein-protein interactions, and fragment screening
  • Analyzes and interprets SPR and TSA data
  • Prepares scientific reports and presents scientific data to clients
  • Works broadly and flexibly with the biophysics business group across different geographic regions
  • Works with the team to perform orthogonal target engagement or additional binding assays, in line with project requirements
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Experience / Education

  • Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of related work experience, or Master's degree with 8+ years of related work experience, or PhD degree, preferred (Biophysics, Biochemistry)
  • Industry experience in Pharma/Biotech and/or drug R&D process is preferred
  • Proven hands-on experience with in vitro biophysical assays (SPR, MST, DSF/TSA, GCI, ITC and/or MS)
  • Understanding of binding kinetics and experience with rigorous data analysis
  • Demonstrated understanding of complex scientific procedures and technical proficiency with in vitro assays

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Basic troubleshooting and planning skills
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to demonstrate scientific creativity, critical thinking, and fast learning capabilities
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently as required
  • Must be able to read, write, and understand English.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in an office environment with minimal noise conditions.
  • Must be able to work in a lab setting with exposure to biohazards, chemicals
  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE
  • Must be able to work in an environment with variable noise levels
  • Ability to stand/sit/walk for long periods
  • Ability to lift 10 lbs. routinely
  • Ability to crouch, bend, twist, and reach
  • Ability to push/pull 10 lbs. routinely
  • Clarity of Vision
