Position Overview:

We are seeking a curious and motivated Analytical Scientist with a background in separation sciences, polymer chemistry, and/or materials science. The successful candidate has extensive knowledge and experience in analytical techniques and material characterization, particularly in separation, detection, and identification technologies (e.g. GCMS/LCMS, FID, CAD, etc.). This role requires the ability to work cross functionally, develop new and innovative methods, interpret complex data, provide analysis, and present findings to diverse stakeholders. The position is part of the Models and Methods team, partnering across the organization to develop standards and addressing analytical and digital challenges in material science.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply advanced chromatographic and detection techniques including GC-MS, LC-MS, GPC, and others to separate, identify, and quantify complex chemical mixtures and polymeric materials. Develop and refine methodologies to improve accuracy and analytical efficiency

  • Utilize complementary techniques such as FTIR, UV-Vis, NMR, Raman, TGA, DSC, DMA, and DHR to investigate structural, thermal, mechanical, and rheological properties of polymers and other materials

  • Perform qualitative and quantitative testing of chemicals, raw materials, and products using internal resources and external partners. Utilize statistical methods to make data driven decisions

  • Provide clear analysis, draw meaningful conclusions, provide recommendations, and author detailed reports with key findings and actionable insights.

  • Design, validate, document, and optimize current and new characterization methods for applications in raw material analysis, technology and product development, and quality assurance

  • Provide technical support across the organization to determine the root causes of process failure and product defects

  • Engage with external organizations to develop or improve upon current analytical techniques or conduct experiments

  • Provide training and guidance on equipment usage, data analysis, and method development

  • Oversee the maintenance and troubleshooting of analytical instrumentation

Qualifications

  • A PhD (preferred) or MS degree in Analytical Chemistry, Materials Science, Polymer Science, or a related discipline.

  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise in separations, molecule identification and quantification. Experience with structural, thermal, and/or mechanical material characterization is preferred

  • Curious, creative, and proactive analytical problem solver with a drive to learn.

  • Demonstrated computational skills including familiarity with python, R, JMP or other languages and statistical tools is strongly preferred

  • Strong team-oriented professional with experience in project management, excellent interpersonal skills, a positive outlook, and the ability to communicate effectively (oral and written) with technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail around safety, laboratory procedures, sample management, and data storage.

  • Ability to work independently, make decisions, and lead cross-functional activities

  • The compensation range that is described below is the possible base pay compensation that the company believes in good faith that it will pay for this role at the time of posting based on job grade for the position. Individual compensation within this range is based on many factors such as years of experience etc. so the company might pay more or less than the posted range and it is understood that this range may be modified in the future.
  • In addition to base compensation, MonoSol provides a yearly incentive compensation bonus, a profit sharing bonus when eligible, a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision insurances, short term disability, long term disability, accidental death and dismemberment, term life insurance, voluntary term life insurance, transit flexible spending account (if applicable), employee assistance program, identity theft protection, 401k and paid time off (vacation and sick days).

Compensation range - $86,907.87 - $146,142.27

Incentive Compensation Bonus Target - 10%

Paid time off amount - 15 days
