Postdoctoral Position for Cardiovascular Biology Research at Mayo Clinic (Rochester, MN)
The lab of Paul Tang, MD, PhD is seeking motivated, creative and enthusiastic scientists to join us in researching the biology of donor heart preservation which includes the study of cell biology, metabolism and liquid-liquid phase separation with molecular condensate formation. Additional skills in computational biology and immunology are also welcome. Our laboratory focus ranges from the study of basic biological processes to very translational bench-to-clinical research with implementation of laboratory discoveries to clinical trials which are currently ongoing. We are also a core member of the Mayo Clinic Kogod Aging Center with studies on the biology of cardiovascular aging by also leveraging the abundant clinical biospecimen resources available. Our goal is to make seminal discoveries in organ preservation biology and cardiovascular aging as well as translate cutting-edge science to clinical practice. Our lab has ample opportunities to develop valuable scientific skillsets and make novel discoveries in cardiovascular science. Research in the lab receives funding from multiple external grants including the NIH (R01), American Heart Association, industry partners, Professional Society Foundations and clinical trials. Examples of areas of research include:
1. Study of molecular phase separation events in determining cardiac preservation quality
2. Impact of chromatin structure on the biology of aging hearts and susceptibility to ischemia
3. Study of plasma membrane processes that endow cardioprotective properties during ischemia-reperfusion
4. Drug therapeutics to improve cardiac resilience to ischemic injury
