The Department of Computer Science at the University of South Dakota (USD) is seeking a Research Associate to support ongoing projects within the AI Research Lab, which focuses on foundational artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, with a strong commitment to sustainable AI solutions. The successful candidate will provide technical support across a variety of research activities, including code development and version control using GitHub, data collection and curation, accurate record keeping, data analysis, assisting in the preparation of preliminary research proposals, and organizing Kaggle competitions as part of research dissemination and community engagement.
Applicants must hold a master's degree or higher in computer science, artificial intelligence, or a closely related field such as computer engineering, psychology, or biomedical engineering. A solid foundation in experimental methodology, Python programming, machine learning, and statistical analysis is required. Prior experience in developing and deploying AI models is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, a collaborative spirit, attention to detail, and a reliable work ethic.
