Job Description:
Independently performs a variety of tests and biological experiments following established methodologies. Identifies and prepares biofluid samples for biomarker testing using the Quanterix HD-X platform in support of the 1Florida ADRC and UF collaborators. Performs Simoa-based immunoassays, evaluates data for quality control, and communicates results to the research team. Conducts DNA extraction and genotyping using TaqMan assays following established protocols.
Processes and ships biofluid samples for external biomarker testing while maintaining certification for shipping biological materials. Receives sample shipments from 1Florida ADRC Clinical Cores, logs sample metadata in Excel and REDCap, and stores samples in designated freezers. Maintains accurate and up-to-date inventory of stored samples, documenting all additions and removals.
Maintenance of laboratory equipment, reagent preparation, proper disposal of chemicals/ biological material, cleaning glassware, overall general maintenance. Maintains supplies in accordance with departmental procedures (organizes and oversees ordering of general lab supplies)
Other Duties :
- Stay up to date on literature relevant to the field.
- Attend regular meetings.
- Coordinate special studies or projects as directed.
- Perform other tasks as requested and assigned by supervisor.
Expected Salary:
$46,000 - $55,000 Annually. Based on experience and qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Must have Bachelor's degree in biology or closely related life science field
Preferred:
- Proficiency in sample handling, tracking, and inventory management.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and projects.
- Ability to prioritize and coordinate concurrent projects, manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
- High level of professionalism, reliability and attention to detail.
- Good organizational skills; detail-oriented
- Sound degree of computer literacy
- Ability to methodically record data and to analyze data using basic statistics
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
