Position Summary:
The University of Wisconsin - Platteville is seeking a Laboratory Manager to oversee technical activities, operations, and assist with coordinating policy development within the chemistry labs. The position involves coordinating laboratory course experiments, ensuring quality control, and compliance with regulations. This includes managing and overseeing the physical and logistical aspects of laboratory course experiments, managing hazardous waste, supervising student workers, and assisting with budget management. The preferred candidate would also be able to also serve as a Chemical Hygiene Officer.
This is a full-time, 12-month position with a starting salary of $53,900 per year, commensurate with experience. The University of Wisconsin System offers a nationally top ranked retirement plan and a comprehensive benefits package.

- Monitors program budgets and expenditures

- Manage scheduling and logistics to ensure timely and efficient setup and takedown of experiments for laboratory courses
- Proactively plan and anticipate laboratory course needs, taking initiative to support smooth operations
- Assist faculty and staff by independently preparing laboratory materials and demonstrations, including those for outreach events
- Handle purchasing and ordering of supplies and chemicals in a cost-effective and budget-conscious manner
Required Qualifications:
- B.S. in Chemistry or B.S. in STEM discipline with experience in Chemistry stockroom.
- Great organizational and time management skills.
- Supervisory skills (undergraduate students preferred and staff level).
- Experience with inventory management skills (MSDS online preferred).
- Experience with hazardous waste management and compliance.
- Experience with Chemical Hygiene (preferred).
