Genentech Research and Early Development (gRED) invites you to embark on an exciting journey as Scientist 3 in the Biophysical Group within the Biochemical and Cellular Pharmacology (BCP) Department. This role offers the chance to contribute to a globally recognized team known for its cutting-edge innovations in biophysical assay development and application, supporting our early drug discovery pipeline.
As a member of this outstanding group, you will be actively supported by our experts towards advancing drug discovery programs across multidisciplinary project teams. You will leverage and further develop your expertise in a variety of biophysical methods, with a particular focus on Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR)-based assays. Through impactful biophysical data and insights, you will directly contribute to meeting critical objectives that shape the trajectory of life-saving therapies.
Who You Are
We are seeking exceptional, highly motivated individuals who thrive in a collaborative and scientifically rigorous environment who meet the following qualifications:
A Bachelors degree in biophysics, biochemistry, pharmacology, or a related field, with a minimum of 8 years of directly relevant experience in early small molecule drug discovery. Alternatively, a Masters degree in biophysics or a similar field, with 6 years of directly relevant experience.
A demonstrated record of assay development and application of biophysical methods to support early small molecule drug discovery programs.
Strong scientific acumen in early drug discovery, coupled with strong verbal and written communication skills.
A proven ability to effectively prioritize tasks and work independently toward achieving key deliverables.
High aptitude for collaboration across disciplines, with a drive to address challenges and deliver on program needs.

Proficiency in integrating biophysical methods with complementary biophysical or biochemical approaches and delivering some of this work through collaboration with external partners.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $101,400 - $188,200. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
