Laboratory Technician Englewood, CO

Type: Contract (6 months)
Shift: Monday Thursday 8am 4:30pm
Friday 8am 2pm
Pay Rate: $22/hr

Description: A geological sample preparation facility is seeking lab technicians for a 12-month temporary contract. Responsibilities include sample receiving, quarantining, processing, shipping, and warehousing under the supervision of the DGL Manager and senior technicians. Accurate handling and contamination control are crucial as samples are analyzed for precious metals and trace elements.

Job Tasks:

• Log and receive geological samples
  
• Follow USDA Soil Import Permit quarantining procedures
  
• Process samples for gold and elemental testing
  
• Operate lab equipment and maintain cleanliness
  
• Accurately enter data into LIMS
  
• Avoid contamination and maintain housekeeping
  
• Label, pack, and ship samples
  
• Adjust task priorities based on instructions
  
• Meet throughput and turnaround time targets
  
• Attend lab operations meetings
  
• Organize and inventory lab supplies and samples
  
• Perform additional lab and warehouse-related tasks as needed

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education in Chemistry, Geology, or related science
  
• Lab technician experience preferred
  
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel

Physical Requirements:

• Stand and move all day (except breaks)
  
• Perform repetitive manual tasks
  
• Safely lift heavy objects and move tall rolling racks
  
• No jewelry on hands or wrists while working

Safety Requirements:

• Follow all lab safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE
  
• Conduct tasks safely and monitor for hazards
  
• Participate in safety meetings and task-specific training
