Role Overview
The Chief Manufacturing Engineering Leader for the Avionics P&L, within the Defense and Systems division, will have responsibility for the strategic manufacturing engineering activities for the organization, including but not limited to: translating concepts, developing strategy, and implementing change to support manufacturing readiness, capability, and growth. This role will also include responsibilities aligned with GE Aerospaces proprietary FLIGHT DECK operating system, driving Lean principles and continuous improvement across manufacturing processes.
Roles and Responsibilities
The Chief Manufacturing Engineering Leader will lead Manufacturing Engineering strategy for the Avionics P&L, including:
Sustaining strategies and improvements
Defining launch strategies for the Avionics sites
Driving Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) performance improvements
Leading supply chain efforts related to New Product Introduction (NPI), including quotation input, project resource definition, toll gate support and engagement, Technology Readiness Level (TRL) to Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) transition, as well as Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) execution
Collaborating with Manufacturing Engineering Leader(s) and teams across sites that will be responsible to interpret, implement, and improve the launch and sustaining production strategies and initiatives
Partnering with Manufacturing Engineering site leaders to build and maintain manufacturing engineering technical talent strategy to include Controlled Title Holder (CTH) growth and technical pyramid health
FLIGHT DECK responsibilities include:
Implementing Lean methodologies such as Kaizen, Kata, and Hoshin Kanri to improve manufacturing processes
Ensuring adherence to Standard Work practices to enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC) performance
Leading continuous improvement initiatives to optimize production efficiency and reduce waste
Supporting the development and execution of strategic plans aligned with FLIGHT DECK principles
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Engineering or Business (or a related field)
Minimum of 8 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, and/or industrial engineering
Minimum of 5 years of experience directly leading people
Preferred Qualifications
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Ability to interface effectively with all internal organizational levels and external customers
Strong team building and problem-solving skills
Familiarity with various engineering areas of manufacturing technology
Strong influencing skills across multiple functions
Demonstrated change management and project management
