This individual will execute in vivo neuromuscular and sensory pharmacology studies, contributing to the design, execution, and communication of novel research in our highly collaborative neurotoxin discovery and innovation program.The successful candidate for this position will contribute to projects aimed at in vivo pharmacological characterization of biotherapeutics. He/she/they will be required to work on a variety of in vivo pharmacology models to help characterize and evaluate biological compounds. The successful candidate will organize, analyze, and interpret results, come forward with recommendations, and present the findings to senior personnel or in team meetings. Experience with rodent models is required. A background in neurobiology is highly desirable but not required.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, execute, and analyze in vivo assays to answer scientific questions and contribute to conceptual and experimental protocolsWork with cross-functional team members to accomplish the goals and requirements of the organization, including excellence in execution, and workload prioritizationHands-on experimentalist: perform small animal handling, dosing of molecules through a variety of delivery routes, conduct behavioral studies, and post-mortem tissue harvestDemonstrate critical thinking to troubleshoot and provide creative solutions to address experimental challengesEffectively organize and present scientific plans and data to functional leadersDemonstrate flexibility and a commitment to scientific excellenceMeet experimental timelines and impact projects through lab-based contributionsUnderstand and adhere to corporate standards regarding conduct, safety, material handling, CDC compliance, and animal careLearn, understand, and become proficient at new experimental techniquesEffectively prepare and communicate presentations to multidisciplinary teamsQualificationsMinimum Education and Experience:Bachelor's Degree with 3+ years of experience OR Master's Degree Experience with small animal/rodent handling is requiredExperience with behavioral assays (sensory or motor)Preferred Qualifications:Experience with small animal dosing and post-mortem tissue harvest is highly desirable.Familiarity with in vivo behavioral or pharmacological assays is highly desirable.Working knowledge of neuroscience and animal anatomy is a plusExperience with histological techniques, including immunohistochemistry, microscopy, and other laboratory techniques, is a plus.Experience with in vitro assays including cell culture techniques is a plus.Knowledge of graphing software (e.g., GraphPad prism) and basic understanding of statistical analyses is a plus.Other Required Skills:Exhibit flexibility and a commitment to scientific excellenceHighly motivated, hands-on experimentalist who thrives in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environmentWilling and able to conduct various in vivo behavioral and pharmacological assays in small animalsIndependently design and conduct critical experiments that advance project goals in a timely mannerProactively seek advice from others when developing new models or when troubleshootingPossess strong interpersonal skills and able to collaborate with diverse groups within the organization.Meticulous attention to detail and diligence in record keepingInterpret results and draw conclusions from own multistage experimentsNote significant deviations and suggest, design, and pursue relevant experimentsPresent findings in team meetings and to senior personnel using precise written and oral communicationPossess basic understanding of standard statistical analysis of scientific dataExcellent writing and communication skills.Computer skills: working knowledge of MS-Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is required.Additional InformationApplicable only to applicants applying to a position in any location with pay disclosure requirements under state or local law: The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position.
