Job Description

Dr. Yue Yang's laboratory at Weill Cornell Medicine is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join a new NIH-funded R01 project focusing on the role of NAD metabolism in metabolic diseases. The successful candidate will contribute to mechanistic and translational studies using in vivo mouse models and in vitro cellular systems, with a particular emphasis on pancreatic -cell biology.

Key Responsibilities:

Independently conduct and troubleshoot experiments related to NAD+ metabolism and metabolic diseases using genetic mouse models and primary cells.

Manage experimental procedures, including animal handling, in vivo studies, and post-study data analysis.

Analyze experimental data, interpret results, prepare research manuscripts and grant proposals.

Stay updated with relevant scientific literature and attend conferences or seminars to foster professional development.

Basic Qualifications:

Doctoral degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related discipline.

Demonstrated scientific accomplishment through peer-reviewed publications.

Strong commitment to a career in biomedical research.

Ability to independently design and conduct experiments, troubleshoot technical challenges, and adapt protocols as needed.

Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary research team.

Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively present research findings and contribute to scientific discussions.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience in pancreatic beta cell and Type II diabetic studies.

Minimum of two years' hands-on experience with in vivo mouse models, including animal handling and minor surgical procedures (e.g. primary islet isolations).

Technical proficiency in flow cytometry, microscopy, western blotting, ELISA, qPCR, and mammalian cell culture.

Familiarity with high-throughput data analysis and bioinformatics tools.

A strong background in animal physiology and molecular biology, with first-author publications.
