The Opportunity
The downstream process development (DSPD) team is seeking a highly motivated scientist with relevant industry experience to join the team. The successful candidate will participate in multiple downstream process development programs in Roche innovative pipeline.
What Youll Do
Execute lab experiments according to predefined experimental design and protocols.
Support the maintenance of essential equipment and critical raw materials to ensure smooth laboratory operations.
Maintain comprehensive and accurate documentation with a high level of detail. Close out experiments in a timely manner while preparing and submitting well-written development reports.
Collaborate with team members to ensure the DSP laboratories are maintained in a professional and organized working environment.
Contribute to the troubleshooting, optimization, and scale-up of downstream processes to meet project objectives.
Who You Are
PhD in biochemistry, chemistry, chemical engineering, bioengineering, or related area with 0-3 years of relevant industry experience. Master/Bachelor in biochemistry, chemistry, chemical engineering, bioengineering, or related area with 3-7 years of relevant industry experience.
Knowledge of downstream process development of the biologics, such as viral vectors, monoclonal antibodies, vaccines, and therapeutic recombinant proteins in the biopharma industry
Hands-on experience with operating chromatography and filtration systems
Working knowledge and skills for viral vector or vaccine purification is a plus.
Working knowledge of analytical techniques for in process testing or product characterization is a plus.
In-depth understanding in at least one of the following aspects is a plus: Chromatography, Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF) operations or pilot-scale operations.

Be able to identify issues and problems proactively, suggest solutions and solicit group members' input and feedback
Internal and External Contacts
The PD Downstream Scientist will work with members of PD downstream, upstream, analytical development, MS&T, PCO groups. If necessary, the PD Downstream scientist also needs to contact vendors and consultants, to bring in and evaluate new equipment and materials

Must be flexible with work schedule and available to work extended hours if needed
Must be able to wear all Personal Protective Equipment as required
Must be able to stand for long periods
Relocation funding is not available for this role.
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Philadelphia, PA is $91,000 - $169,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
