The Opportunity
This position works out of our Abbott Park: Lake County IL (other locations: Santa Clara, CA, Alameda, CA, Chicago, IL, Plymouth, MN, Austin, TX, or St. Paul, MN)
As Research Information Scientist, you will understand Abbotts business priorities and collaborate with Abbott stakeholders to address information needs through in-depth, cost-effective secondary research and analysis impacting Abbotts Regulatory, Research & Development, Medical Affairs, HEOR, and other key business areas. You will organize and communicate clinical data from published research to drive strategy and decision-making that support Abbotts business goals. As part of the Abbott Research Center (ARC), Abbotts corporate library, you will work closely with other ARC functions to support Abbott strategies, mitigate risk, and innovate.
What Youll Do
- Create literature search strategies, review and appraise results, analyze and summarize pertinent clinical literature, and develop decision-ready deliverables that answer research questions
- Perform systematic literature searches to support regulatory requirements across all Abbott businesses
- Develop and maintain knowledge and understanding of diagnostics, medical devices, nutrition, and pharmaceutical products and subject matters
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Abbott business leaders and stakeholders globally
- Integrate the latest research tools, including AI technologies where appropriate, into workflows to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of biomedical research, data management, knowledge sharing, and insights generation
- Manage complex information projects in partnership with ARC colleagues and stakeholders
- Conduct outreach to identify opportunities, build strong working relationships, and deepen understanding of Abbotts businesses, products, and strategic priorities
- Drive innovation by evaluating emerging information resources, technologies, and external vendor solutions to enhance research capabilities and service delivery
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in medical, biological, physical science, or engineering disciplines
- Strong proficiency in secondary research tools and information retrieval techniques using biomedical databases
- Proficiency in prompt engineering
- Ability to analyze literature to surface relevant clinical evidence
- Minimum 3 years of experience reviewing and analyzing biomedical literature
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters of library/information science or advanced degree in a STEM field
- Medical device, diagnostics or other health care business experience
- Experience with secondary research to support regulatory filings
- Demonstrated project management skills

The base pay for this position is $75,300.00 $150,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
