Teck Alaska Incorporated, Red Dog Operations, one of the world's largest producers of zinc concentrate, is recruiting for a Metallurgical Engineer

Rotation schedule will be 2 weeks on-site with 2 weeks off-site

Reporting to the Principal Metallurgist the Metallurgical Engineer is a developmental position. Responsibilities range from; carrying out discreet metallurgical and/or process development assignments, to initiating and conducting long term projects, and may involve daily supervision of technicians, engineers, and/or the assay group.

Responsibilities:

Complete assigned work in a professional manner, including necessary measurements, calculations, analyses, interpretations, reporting and recommendations

Communicate effectively with operating, analytical and maintenance groups to ensure optimum utilization of resources

Improve metallurgical plant processes and procedures by evaluating new technology and recommending implementation where cost effective

Develop subordinate professionals and technicians by participating in their selection, training, evaluating their performance, and by following, enforcing and administering company policies in a fair and equitable manner

Co-ordinate short-term and long-term projects to improve plant metallurgical and cost performance

Develop an understanding of the Company's organization and how to get things done within it

Establish Personal Goals and Objectives annually that align with Departmental Goals and Objectives. (These require Supervisor approval and will be evaluated in regards to attainment during Performance Planning and Coaching reviews)

Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Bachelor Degree (Science/Engineering, Metallurgical, Mineral Processing, Chemical Engineering or related field), or equivalent combination of education and experience in lieu of a degree

5 years industrial mill experience

Proficient in MS Office Suite and Windows environment and able to thrive in a fast-paced setting with advanced abilities in MS Excel

Project work exposure is an asset

Production experience in a mill with flotation would be considered a significant asset

Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

Capable of working with all levels of the organization and in a team environment

Excellent communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills

Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to articulate ideas and communicate needs in a concise manner

Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks
