Job Summary
The Chemical Laboratory Technician supports the Architectural, Colorants, and Adhesives team by conducting product performance testing in both laboratory and field settings. This role includes mechanical performance testing, stability analysis, and wet state analytics. The position involves testing coatings and adhesive samples for film performance and exterior durability.
Job Description
- Conduct in-lab testing of coatings and adhesives using standard lab instruments and procedures.
- Prepare and paint various substrates for natural weathering tests.
- Mount and remove test boards from an exterior test fence.
- Monitor, measure, and rate changes in color, gloss, and coating degradation over time.
- Coordinate with the exterior technical specialist to manage outdoor exposure testing.
- Use hand tools such as sanders and drills for substrate preparation.
- Operate an ATV to transport test boards between the lab and the test site.
- Perform data entry and assist with the preparation of technical reports.
- Engage in physically demanding tasks including lifting, standing, walking, and pushing carts.
Skills Required
- At least one year of general laboratory experience preferred.
- Strong work ethic and self-motivation.
- Ability to operate with a high sense of urgency.
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer proficiency, including experience with email, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
- Strong integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Flexibility and adaptability to shifting priorities on a daily basis.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
Education
- Highschool diploma or GED
Additional requirements
- Schedule: M-F 7:30am-4:30pm
Pay Rate
- $23.00 per hour
