Kelly Services is actively recruiting for a R&D Laboratory Technician for a Long Term Contract opportunity in Lake Jackson, TX.**
**Role and Responsibilities**
The R&D Lab technician will provide support to Ethylene Oxide (EO) Catalyst R&D team. The successful candidate will work both independently and part of a larger team to support EO catalyst synthesis and lab-scale reactor evaluations. The role requires mechanical aptitude, a high level of independence and initiative, meticulous attention to detail, self-motivation, interpersonal effectiveness and reliability. Training on specific skills and processes will be provided on the job. The role may include but is not limited to the following responsibilities:
+ Follow Operating Discipline principles, procedures, and practices to ensure safe and efficient laboratory operation.
+ Conduct catalyst preparation, analysis, and testing under the instructions of EO R&D team members.
+ Maintain supplies of consumable research supplies including chemicals and feed gasses, lab supplies, and PPE.
+ Conduct routine maintenance and operation of lab-scale reactors and related infrastructure.
+ Package and dispose of waste per RCRA regulations.
+ Document and/or communicate results and observations in a timely and detailed fashion.
+ Facilitate established laboratory support workflows such as sample shipping, housekeeping, and chemical inventory with broad impacts to the EO R&D team.
Safety:
+ There is potential for heavy lifting of up to 50lbs.
+ PPE is required per the specified work location
Requirements:
A minimum of an Associates degree in a technical curriculum. A minimum cumulative 2.7 GPA in all coursework is required
Or
A minimum of 2 years relevant work experience as a lab tech, reactor operator, Chem tech, computer science, etc.
Skills:
This role requires mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, critical thinking, computer knowledge (software systems, excel, word, etc). The technicians work will be directed by the EO R&D team; however, the technician will be responsible for directly contacting colleagues on the team for additional questions or clarifications if needed. The technician will be accountable for the quality of the data generated. Good verbal and written communication skills and the capacity to interact effectively with coworkers at all levels are required. The role requires a high level of independence, motivation, interpersonal effectiveness, and reliability.
