To assist in the development and improvement of processes and products in our agriculture/industrial based business, the Chemist will be responsible for:
- Maintaining a formulation and Q/A lab to meet quality standards and serve as a backup for the SQF Practitioner.
- Analyzing organic or inorganic compounds to determine chemical or physical properties, composition, structure, relationships, or reactions using chromatography, spectroscopy, or spectrophotometry techniques.
- Maintaining laboratory instruments, troubleshooting malfunctions, and ensuring proper operation.
- Developing, improving, or customizing products, equipment, formulas, processes, or analytical methods.
- Conducting quality control tests and annual proficiency testing.
- Ensuring the lab is ISO 17025 compliant.
- Advising personnel on test procedures for analyzing components or physical properties of materials.
- Preparing test solutions, compounds, or reagents for laboratory testing.
- Compiling and analyzing test data to evaluate process or equipment efficiency and diagnose malfunctions.
- Studying the effects of processing, preserving, or packaging methods on food properties.
- Inducing changes in substances through heat, light, energy, or chemical catalysts for analysis.
- Processing information through compiling, coding, categorizing, tabulating, auditing, or verifying data.
- Evaluating information to ensure compliance with standards.
- Documenting and recording information in written or electronic form.
- Serving as a backup to the SQF Practitioner.
Skills Required:
A minimum of two to four years of relevant experience, with HACCP & PCQr training for backup SQF duties and food safety training .
