Postdoctoral Fellow Computational Genomics & Cancer Epidemiology

  • The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center
  • Houston, Texas
  • Full Time
We are seeking highly motivated postdoctoral fellows to join a multidisciplinary research program in the molecular epidemiology of lymphoid malignancies. Based in the Departments of Epidemiology and Lymphoma & Myeloma at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, our work bridges molecular, population, and clinical research.

We investigate how inherited genetic variation, clonal hematopoiesis, and precancerous conditions influence the risk, progression, and outcomes of blood cancers, including chronic lymphocytic leukemia, multiple myeloma, and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. By integrating germline and somatic genomic data with large-scale cohort, biobank, and clinical datasets, we identify risk factors, model disease trajectories, and develop precision tools for cancer risk prediction.

Supported by funding from the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) and the National Cancer Institute, the program provides access to exceptional resources, including high-performance computing, large and diverse population datasets, and a collaborative, data-rich environment.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Postdoctoral fellows will work at the interface of population science, computational biology, and clinical oncology. Potential projects include:

Developing computational phenotyping methods to identify precursor conditions in large cohorts.
Characterizing clonal growth trajectories in B-cell precursors and their somatic drivers.
Investigating the combined effects of inherited and acquired genomic alterations on cancer risk and prognosis.

Fellows will be supported in developing independent research directions, publishing in high-impact journals, and presenting at national and international meetings.

All duties and responsibilities are carried out in compliance with institutional policies, ethical research standards, and applicable federal and state regulations

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D., or equivalent degree in epidemiology, genetic epidemiology, bioinformatics, computational biology, or a related field.

Demonstrated experience in genomic data analysis and statistical programming (R, Python).

Interest in cancer epidemiology and early detection of lymphoid malignancies.

Strong written and oral communication skills, with a publication record.
