QC Chemist, Weekend Night Shift

We are currently seeking a QC Chemist at either our Eden Prairie facility. This is a weekend shift role working Friday - Sunday from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Perform testing and evaluations of raw material, bulk, and finished products in accordance to written procedures.

  • Ensures current standard operating and test procedures are utilized.

  • Documentation records are accurate and in compliance with GMP requirements.

  • Develops and maintains understanding of various testing methodologies, including appropriate techniques and potential errors.

  • Always maintains neat and accurate records and clean and organized work areas.

  • Ensures product quality specifications and customer standards are met and maintained to the Customers' satisfaction.

  • Ensures test results meet current specifications prior to completion/approval.

  • Performs batch adjustments as needed in batch making procedures.

  • Trouble-shooting out of specification (OOS) situations.

  • Ensures current reference and product standards are properly maintained.

  • Updates test procedures and specifications as needed.

  • Utilizes data to focus improvement efforts so customer requirements and regulatory regulations are met.

  • Accurately records all data (cGMP) and pertinent information

  • Accurately documents monthly Key Quality Incident (KQI)

  • Documents OOS situations, determines root cause, and suggests possible solutions

  • Maintains compliance with current regulatory expectations and practices (e.g. USP)

  • Understand and maintain a culture of "lean action" within the department so that we live lean better than any organization.

  • Implement and maintain standards and processes that eliminate waste throughout the department.

  • Apply and utilize "lean tools" to permanently implement improvements.

  • Institutionalize 5S in all aspects of the department. (Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain)

  • Perform other work as assigned.

Qualification and Skill Requirements:

Prior Experience:

  • 0-2 years GMP lab experience; prefer a minimum of 6 months experience in a Chemistry lab environment such as pharmaceutical, cosmetics, personal care, food processing, etc.
  • Knowledge Requirements:

To be effective, this position requires the ability to multi task, demonstrate a sense of urgency, and the ability to organize. Lab experience normally acquired through a 4-year college degree in Chemistry, Biology or related science discipline and/or equivalent experience is needed.

Technical Competencies:

  • Must have knowledge and experience with wet chemistry techniques including analytical balance, volumetric glassware, pH, titration; UV/Vis and FTIR experience is preferred.
  • Can maintain and grow technical knowledge and expertise. Can be accurate, precise and pay attention to detail.
  • Has working knowledge and experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
  • Can read and follow written work instructions and specifications.
  • Ability to perform testing, review testing data and report on results.

Work Requirement:

  • This position may require some work hours beyond the normal workday based on the demands of the business cycle, customer volume of business, and specific sales efforts underway. It has a moderate to high demand for physical activity.

Working Conditions:

  • Indoors, generally.
  • Will be exposed to various fragrances which at times may be at elevated levels.
  • Able to utilize stairways.
  • Able to respond and adapt to changes in the work environment.
  • Able to work in a high paced work environment.
