Saint-Gobain Life Sciences is looking for a Senior Application Development Engineer to join our growing Bioprocess Solutions R&D team at the Saint-Gobain Research North America R&D center located in Northborough, MA.

Saint-Gobain Life Sciences produces a wide variety of high-quality single-use components and assemblies to ensure reliable and robust fluid management for the manufacturing of different drug modalities by applying our deep knowledge and experience in material science, design and engineering. In collaboration with the Business Development Manager, the Application Development Engineer will focus on developing strong customer connections in the Biopharma industry and will be expected to work with our customers to demonstrate how to use our current products, facilitate customer testing of new product developments, and connect customers and their needs back to the R&D team. As an Application Development Engineer, the selected candidate will be expected to leverage strong communication skills to engage with customers and to collaborate effectively with R&D colleagues, commercial team members, other application engineers, as well as other industrial and academic organizations. The candidate will also be required to develop an extensive customer and collaborator network through conferences, trade shows, incubator/start-up connections and university collaborations.

Essential Functions

  • As technical partner, work closely with Business Development Manager- in developing a new/expanded customer base and supporting technical needs of current customers for Advanced Therapies. This includes demonstrations on how to use current and new products, driving customers testing for development products and connecting customers back to our Advanced Therapy Lab.

  • Seek new opportunities by building an extensive customer network through attending and presenting to conferences, trade shows, tech days, incubator/start-up collaborations, university collaborations, etc.

  • The candidate is required to document customer opportunities/experiences/needs. In addition, the candidate is required to facilitate follow-ups with technical and BU team members as needed to progress opportunities.

Required Qualifications

Bachelors Degree with 7+ years of experience; masters degree with 3+ years of experience or entry level PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Immunology, Chemistry or other related disciplines.

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with different drug modalities in an industrial or research setting.

  • Knowledge of basic cell therapy processes, bioprocesses, analytical techniques and applications.

  • Application knowledge for single-use products in the Biopharma and Cell & Gene Therapy markets.

  • Strong communicator, skilled at translating customers needs to technical and non-technical teams.

  • Experience working directly with customers to strategically problem-solve, demonstrate how to use products, connect technical teams, etc., preferred.
