Postdoctoral Research Associate - Infectious Diseases
A postdoctoral position is available in Dr. Octavio Ramilo's lab at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The Ramilo-Mejias lab is led by Dr. Octavio Ramilo, Chair of Infectious Diseases, and Dr. Asuncion Mejias, Member and Medical Director of Clinical Research. This multidisciplinary lab is at the forefront of pediatric infectious disease research, focusing on early life immune development and viral respiratory infections in infants and children.
The Ramilo-Mejias lab investigates how children's immune systems develop from birth through childhood, with a particular emphasis on the impact of maternal health, vaccination status, and exposure to respiratory viruses. The lab utilizes cutting-edge genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, and computational methods to analyze clinical data and samples, exploring how respiratory viruses and vaccines influence the development of immune responses. Respiratory infections, such as RSV, are the leading cause of neonatal mortality worldwide, making this research critical to improving global pediatric health outcomes.
As part of this collaborative lab, you will work alongside clinicians, molecular biologists, immunologists, and computational biologists, leveraging advanced tools and methodologies to address key questions in pediatric infectious disease and immunology.
