Job Title
Materials Engineer IIAs a Materials Engineer, you will be responsible for utilizing professionally accepted engineering principles and techniques to engineer and oversee all aspects of ceramic material manufacturing, process/product implementation and quality control. You will also be responsible for understanding and managing internal materials-related customer requirements.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Under limited supervision, applies accepted engineering principles and efficiently completes assigned tasks conferring with supervisor on complex matters, specific assignment objectives, points of emphasis or possible solutions as-needed in the production of ceramic related materials.
Utilize a strong understanding of manufacturing techniques and associated equipment design and experience to assist other engineers in the development of new processes or formula changes/modifications to meet new customer requirements.
Engage with internal customers to understand their process and help identify critical AMP process parameters.
Focus on increasing process efficiency by actively participating in, or leading continuous improvement activities through research, benchmarking and identification of improved methods or tools.
Prepare mill cards and ultimately releases materials to internal customers.
Review work instructions for accuracy.
Assist in developing, implementing, and improving production/processing methods and controls to cost-effectively meet expected outcomes. Verify outcomes and/or courses of action with appropriate personnel prior to taking action.
Collect and correlate production data to identify result discrepancies. Analyze the data and makes recommendations to support and drive continuous improvements.
Direct and provide equipment, software and process training/cross-training (especially in the use of AMP tracker, SPC and Mfg:Pro).
Oversee manufacturing processes and effectively utilizes SPC tools (i.e. control charts, DOEs, etc.) to maintain and improve product and process quality.
Work closely with internal customers to provide technical support and timely initial response on issues.
Participate in and/or performs process and product audits.
Provide cost and manufacturing information to management as needed.
Job Requirements: .
Bachelors degree in Ceramics, Materials or other related field.
Minimum 3 years related materials engineering experience.
Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Has a working understanding of materials and characteristics, including material formulations, finished material processing, and material quantification and characterization.
Exhibits strong interpersonal and organizational skills, great attention to detail as well as excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills
Must be able to work with a diverse variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds.
Target Hiring Range
Annual Salary: USD 80,532.00 - USD 106,303.00Actual compensation is commensurate with experience, skills and education.
