Job Title: Quality Control Specialist (Loans)
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Location: Remote, Hybrid, or in-office (Foothill Ranch, CA)
Salary Range $23.00 - 27.00 an hour
Summary: Responsible for quality control on funded loans. Reviews loan documentation prior to the release of loan documents, as well as a final audit of all funded loan files. Assists Lending management with audit and quality control activities. Assists Lending staff with providing an excellent member experience. Performs additional lending-related duties as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- While executing these duties, must fully comply with the rules and regulations governing the credit extension process as promulgated by the various State and Federal agencies, including but not limited to the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), or Reg. B, the Truth in Lending Act (TILA) or Reg. Z, the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACT Act), the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act: Privacy of Consumer Financial Information, as well as guidance as provided by and under the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and the provisions of the USA Patriot Act.
- Performs a thorough review of loan conditions received prior to ordering the appraisal, including but not limited to proof of income, park approval, VOD, purchase agreement, title search/MCO, property taxes, and borrower membership status.
- Performs a thorough review of loan documentation prior to the release of loan documents, including but not limited to approval terms, application ratios, conditions received, and documents prepared for signing.
- Performs a complete audit of funded loan packages, including but not limited to approval terms, application ratios, all loan file documentation stored in the imaging system, as well as loan data in the core system.
- Research and assists Lending management in addressing and responding to internal and external audit findings.
- Assists Lending management with preparing loan packages for participation or securitization.
- Provides feedback and contributes to improving processes to facilitate an accurate and efficient loan process.
- Assists the Lending staff with delivering an excellent member experience through fielding member inquiries and assisting with other tasks as needed.
- Must be proficient with Credit Union Loan Policy as well as loan underwriting guidelines.
- Must be proficient with HCD title and escrow documentation.
- Must be proficient with required loan documentation and data in Lending and CU systems such as Synergy, Symitar, arcOS, and Citrix Sharefile.
- Must have a general understanding of income analysis such that an applicants income can be accurately determined as part of the loan review process.
- Completion of all ECCU compliance training as specified for your position.
SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Stays informed of credit union products, services, procedures, and new developments.
- Assists Loan Manager or Supervisor with administrative tasks.
- Contributes to credit union growth and profitability goals.
- Update job knowledge through educational opportunities and professional organizations.
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Minimum 1 to 3 -years of financial institution experience as a loan processor, quality control specialist, or similar position.
- Experience with the use of an automated loan system preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and the Internet.
- Knowledge of Symitar and ECCUs Loan Origination Systems (arcOS) preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret policy manuals, regulations, and correspondence.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish or Vietnamese is highly valued to better serve our diverse membership. Candidates of all language backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
- Intermediate math skills and understanding of loan amortizations.
- Problem-solving skills with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Certificates and Licenses: No certifications are needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
HOURS OF OPERATION AND WORK SCHEDULE
ECCU is normally open Monday through Saturday. This position may require you to work overtime and sporadic Saturdays throughout the calendar year. Your individual department needs may vary, and you will be provided with a specific work schedule based on business needs. To accommodate the needs of our membership, it may be necessary to adjust individual work schedules to meet the needs of the department and our membership.
