Position Summary
We are seeking five experienced Medical Technologists to provide full-time laboratory services in a hospital setting. These positions require strong generalist skills across all major laboratory disciplines to support inpatient, outpatient, and emergency services.
Job Title: Medical Technologist (Generalist) - Medical Laboratory Scientist
Location: Augusta, ME
Employment Type: Contract (12 months - High Chances of Extension)
Schedule: Full-time (40 hrs/week) with rotating shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
Start Date: September 29, 2025
End Date: September 28, 2026
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine and specialized testing in chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, microbiology, and transfusion medicine.
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot automated laboratory instruments including chemistry analyzers, hematology analyzers, coagulation systems, and urinalysis platforms.
Ensure accuracy and reliability of test results through quality control procedures. Follow established laboratory protocols and safety guidelines.
Document and maintain test data, logs, and reports in the laboratory information system (LIS).
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff to provide timely laboratory support.
Required Qualifications:
Certification as a Medical Technologist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist by ASCP, AMT, or equivalent.
Minimum 3 years of recent, full-time generalist laboratory experience covering multiple disciplines.
Proficiency with laboratory instrumentation such as Abbott chemistry analyzers, Sysmex hematology analyzers, ACL TOP coagulation systems, and Iris urinalysis platforms.
Strong understanding of laboratory safety, infection control, and quality assurance practices.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a hospital or government healthcare facility.
Knowledge of laboratory regulatory requirements (CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission).
