Job Summary:

The Chemical Engineer ((Food Production Safety) will join a dynamic Operations team, reporting to the Senior Manager of Operations. They will apply their chemical engineering knowledge in working with the Chosen Foods US research and development team to develop new products, the development f safe packaging options for same, as well as engineering work required to confirm manufacturability. They will also develop and manage production package offerings and supply chain initiatives to optimize quality and safety standards. They will coordinate and oversee contract manufacturing operations in Mexico on behalf of Chosen Foods for end products that will be distributed and sold in the US. She will apply their engineering knowledge to manage and implement continuous improvement efforts including root cause investigations, and production performance optimization studies.

This role requires that the Chemical Engineer ((Food Production Safety) is fluent in Spanish and English to oversee our partnerships with our largest supplier in Mexico. Working with Chosen Foods they will ensure that our products are manufactured efficiently, meet quality standards, and adhere to budget constraints, while ensuring we have a positive relationship with them.

This Chemical Engineer (Food Production Safety) role aims to coordinate and oversee contract manufacturing operations and provide effective project management for the development and commercialization of new product/secondary package offerings, cost reduction projects, and other supply chain initiatives. The ideal candidate for this role will have experience in production planning, processing and packaging, filling, clear communication in both languages, and providing project status to all appropriate departments.

In addition, the role will also work closely with R D and Quality to ensure contract manufacturers produce to product specifications. Responsibilities will also include partnering with our contract manufacturers on continuous improvement efforts such as waste reduction, root cause investigations / corrective actions, and optimizing performance and cost.

Responsibilities:

Vendor Management: Identify, evaluate, and maintain relationships with our largest vendors and ensure we meet the company's requirements.

Project Management: Coordinating the production schedule, ensuring timelines are met, and managing any issues that arise during the manufacturing process.

Quality Assurance: Implementing and monitoring quality control processes to ensure products meet the required specifications and standards.

Cost Management: Tracking full case costs and working to find efficiencies or cost-saving measures without compromising quality.

Communication: Serving as the primary liaison between Chosen and contract manufacturers, facilitating clear and effective communication in both Spanish and English.

Continuous Improvement: Identifying opportunities for process improvements to enhance product quality, reduce costs, and increase efficiency.

Professional Qualifications:

BS degree is mandatory in Chemical Engineering or related field.

Broad supply chain experience, including plant and/or headquarter positions, is required.

Fluent in Spanish and English

The position requires a thorough understanding of multiple supply chain disciplines and would include experience in several roles, including production planning, operations management, purchasing, logistics, quality assurance, or engineering.

Exceptional project management skills are required.

Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and a firm grasp of supply chain cost structure and drivers.

The candidate must have demonstrated leadership and influence skills and function effectively in a cross-functional team environment.

Must be results-oriented with strong execution skills. Requires knowledge of organizational work processes and how to get tasks accomplished across functional boundaries.

Ability to lead/manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Led cost improvement efforts and process improvement experience
