Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Food Scientist to join our team in developing and formulating innovative bakery products. This role requires a hands-on approach from concept initiation through to production, ensuring our products meet the highest standards of taste, texture, and quality. As a Food Scientist, you will collaborate with various departments to enhance product quality and drive continuous improvement in our offerings. Responsibilities
- Formulate and develop new bakery products while ensuring they meet taste, texture, and quality standards.
- Lead projects from initial concept through production and address manufacturing operations as needed.
- Stay updated with advancements in bakery science and analyze ingredient effects.
- Collaborate on quality control and resolve production-related quality issues.
- Engineer, reverse engineer, or develop products to meet customer demand using specialized knowledge.
- Lead or collaborate in the creation and validation of formulations from bench top through commercialization.
- Manage new product or product change projects, including ingredient identification, documentation, and meeting deadlines.
- Review and approve nutritional data and assist in writing product specifications.
- Conduct and lead consumer tests, sensory evaluations, and shelf-life studies.
- Support internal cross-functional teams for new products and process improvement projects.
- Foster an innovation culture by introducing new ideas and formulation concepts.
- Facilitate quality and continuous improvement solutions.
- Create, design, and supervise the development of new experimental protocols and best practices.
- Collaborate with Food Safety & Quality, Compliance, Operations, Marketing, Sales, and Procurement teams.
- Set up sample sensory evaluation tests and provide backup to the R&D Technician when needed.
- Provide input on process, product, or formulation to aid in optimal product solutions.
- Stay current on trends, equipment, and techniques through professional education.
- Travel is required, including international, as business necessitates.
- 3-5 years of experience as a Food Scientist or Product Developer, ideally in baking.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Proficiency in food science, research and development, and new product development.
- Experience in baking, proofing, and product development.
