The Analytical and Materials Characterization Group within the Savannah River National Laboratory is seeking a highly accomplished Senior Inorganic Chemist to join our team of experts in the Plutonium Technology Division. The selected candidate will be an expert with a proven track record in actinide chemistry and chemical separations. The ideal candidate will be able to secure funding, lead innovative projects, mentor junior scientists, and help advance our plutonium science and engineering portfolio. Responsibilities Lead teams to solve complex scientific and technical problems. Build partnerships and collaborations with universities and other national laboratories. Lead multi-disciplinary and/or multi-national laboratory scale collaborations. Contribute to intellectual property through research proposals, publications, and technical reports. Advise management with short- and long-term planning. Serve as Point of Contact for specific program sponsors. Mentor junior scientists, postdoctoral researchers, and student interns. Maintain a national presence at technical meetings, both internal to DOE and through professional organizations. Effectively communicate complex technical results to key internal and external stakeholders. Works safely with particular attention to quality. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in a chemistry related field (analytical, inorganic, nuclear, radiochemistry). Minimum of 10 years of experience in leading large, complex, interdisciplinary research projects or programs. For ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance, US Citizenship is legally required. Preferred Qualifications: Relevant experience working in DOE National Laboratories. Experience with DOE's Environmental Management, National Nuclear Security Administration, and/or Nuclear Energy funding offices. Strong interpersonal communications both oral and written, along with problem solving skills. Ability to function well in a fast-paced development environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to ever changing needs. Established research record in a relevant field as evidenced by a publication record of technical reports, peer-reviewed articles, presentations, and/or granted patents. Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams. Experience with actinide chemistry and chemical separations. About Us "We put science to work!"
