The Analytical Department is responsible for support of the manufacturing department and external customers. The routine functions of the laboratory are testing of raw materials, in-process, end product, and stability samples. The principal responsibility of the Research Scientist II is the analysis by multiple procedures of compounds. The Research Scientist II is expected to demonstrate proficiency in both the theoretical and practical aspects of analytical chemistry.

Responsibilities
Analyze compounds using a range of analytical techniques
Write analytical method procedures to establish format
Write analytical validation reports
Develop new procedures for new compounds
Process samples with the standard procedures effectively and independently. Analyze experimental data for validity before reporting results
Develop solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope
Contribute to the completion of routine technical tasks
Demonstrate proficiency in interpreting simple data sets and providing summaries
Conduct electronic searches for applicable methods and related procedures
Manage workload and time to perform multiple projects effectively, and ensure all necessary paperwork is completed on a timely basis
Maintain a detailed and accurate recording of activities and results
Contribute to the review of OOS and deviations
Author and execute protocols. Understand and use basic risk assessment and root cause tools
Track and trend data as applicable
Recommend and implement methods to increase the quality of products and/or service
Contributes to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects
Display the ability to assimilate previously gained knowledge and experience and apply those concepts, techniques, etc. to new and related project areas
Follow responsible actions regarding chemical disposal. Maintain compliance with all regulations at the federal, state, and local levels
Exhibit safety awareness and safe work practices
Participate in self-development activities and training of others
Perform other related duties as may be reasonably assigned in the course of business
Education, experience, certification and licensures
Bachelors Degree in Chemistry or related field
Minimum 2 years relevant experience
Knowledge, skills and abilities
Ability to assimilate previously gained knowledge and experience and apply those concepts, techniques, etc. to new and related project areas
Ability to analyze compounds using a range of analytical techniques
Chemical Hygiene training
Basic understanding of ALCOA
Ability to give presentations and/or write articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format
Ability to effectively present information to coworkers, management, and/or public groups
Pay Range: $67,000
Education, experience, location and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
