Kforce's notable utilities client is looking for a Construction Project Manager with experience in substation or transmission work. This role is hybrid in Oakland or San Francisco.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee 20-30 projects (3-5 actively in construction at any given time)
- Manage portfolio of $20M projects (small projects in the $1M range)
- Partner with a Project Controls Analyst who is responsible for the project scheduling and cost forecasting; Focus on keeping projects on track and status tracking
- Isolate project status and hold teams accountable
- Work cross functionally with internal teams (i.e. land planning, permitting, etc.)
- Determines that project objectives are achievable
- Provides guidance to engineering on producing complex risk and alternative analysis, studies, and conceptual designs for presentation to project sponsor
- Oversees and administrates EPC contracts in accordance with ESC Work Oversight Committee
- Negotiates third party contracts, in support of other departments when appropriate
- Develops and champions company-wide best practices
- Arbitrates and resolves conflicts within the project* 5+ years of experience as a Construction PM or Design Engineer
- Experience working on Substation projects OR Transmission projects OR Underground Utility Project Experience (Electric Preferred)
- Experience working at a major utility, PG&E or SoCal Edison preferred
- Knowledge of standard processes/procedures with a focus on safety (in relations to Substations)
- Manage a portfolio of $20M projects (small projects ~$1M).
Nice to Haves:
- Construction Management experience - either from a general contractor or education
- Background in project controls
- Engineering degree or Engineering background
- Knowledge of EPC contracting procedure
