Job Title: Lab Technician
Location: Westminster, MD
Contract to Hire
Pay Rate: Up to $28/hr depending on experience
Summary:
The Lab Technician is responsible for supporting laboratory operations related to powder materials. This includes preparing, sampling, analyzing, and documenting test results for raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products. The technician will ensure testing is performed accurately, timely, and in compliance with company standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
Job Description:
- Perform all required QC laboratory tests on production and development powders.
- Perform physical and chemical testing on powder materials including but not limited to particle size distribution, differential scanning calorimetry, bomb calorimetry, pH, halogen moisture analysis, and dilation.
- Prepare and process samples according to test procedures and SOPs.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of all test data and observations.
- Document non-conformances from QC test results and support corrective action plans.
- Follow all laboratory safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
- Participate in method development and continuous improvement initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- 5+ years of laboratory experience, preferably in powder processing, quality control, or manufacturing environments, or 3 years' experience with an Associate's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Familiarity with powder testing equipment and laboratory procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures accurately.
- Microsoft Suite proficiency.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a lab/industrial environment with appropriate PPE.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Experience with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and/or ISO quality systems.
- Experience in industries such as pharmaceuticals, additive manufacturing, powder material processing.
- Knowledge of statistical data analysis and reporting.
