Job Description

• As part of the Comparative Medicine (CM) team, you will provide direct technical support to partners in Research and Development in the delivery of projects by the completion of experiments, procedures, protocols or studies involving animal models.

• Organizing and delivering study support needed on a daily basis as defined by CM Management and research partners and will work with other colleagues in the efficient conduct of techniques and therefore contribute significantly to the advancement of 3Rs.

• This position is in La Jolla, CA in our rodent only facility supporting Oncology research.

• Maintaining inventory of animal supplies and provide basic technical assistance (i.e., restraint, anesthesia, injections, blood collections etc.) in support of research studies.

• Support the project teams in both Research and Development by performing in vivo technical procedures in the conduct of experiments and protocols and by collecting, recording and exporting data in the delivery of studies.

• Interact with the key in vivo contacts in project teams to understand their needs, engaging them in a flexible and constructive manner.

• Contribute to operational excellence by the collation of metrics showing the efficient delivery of support across projects teams, including alignment with colleagues in CM in the delivery of technical support and its associated metrics when required.

• Provide support in basic veterinary medical treatment as prescribed by the veterinary staff.

• Maintains appropriate records in compliance with regulatory and departmental standards, this may include maintaining animal study related records and ensuring flawless animal care and welfare in conducting research studies.

• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment's.

• As part of the Comparative Medicine (CM) team, you will work with extended team members including the CM operations, veterinary, science and technology and research unit colleagues and scientists.

REQUIREMENTS

• BS with 2-3 years of in vivo experience in pharmaceuticals or related field.

• AALAS certification preferred.

• Required: Basic handing of animals (rodents); In vivo techniques including dosing of animals, collection and processing of blood samples; tissue collection, recording data and basic analysis using Excel and Word.

• Preferred: Tumor cell implantation, tumor volume measurements in vivo imaging and anesthesia set-up.

• Animal handling, dosing and blood collections experience (PO, IP and SubQ)

• Invivo experimentation (Mice)

Technical Certification Bonus: Synectics is pleased to award its employees a bonus of up to $500 for an approved professional certification. In determining the bonus amount, Synectics will consider the cost of the test(s) for any certification relating to your current position, achieved during your employment with us. Only one Certification Bonus per calendar year may be awarded per employee. Only current, active employees will be eligible to receive this bonus. It will be awarded 90 days after the Synectics office has received documentation confirming the successful completion of the certification.
