Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership and direction for all clinical laboratory sections- Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology Blood Bank, Molecular Diagnostics and Phlebotomy.
- Collaborates with the Director of Clinical Laboratories, medical director(s), medical staff, clinical services administrative team, and staff on issues related to the management of care to ensure quality patient care delivery.
- Manages staff, departmental budget, reimbursement, and continuous quality improvement and compliance with all accrediting agencies. Must have exceptional oral and written communication proficiency; attention to detail and ability to multi-task; possess strong organizational skills.
- Capacity to establish and maintain constructive business relationships with internal and external customers while maintaining integrity and confidentiality.
- Aptitude to research, analyze and successfully resolve a broad spectrum of issues. Incumbent must be a positive, professional team player, able to manage project time constraints and work with little supervision.
- Overall technical supervision of their departments.
- Review and assessment of all pertinent Q.C.
- Review of reported results through management reports (exception, OSR, QA.S. monitors).
- Technical review and writing Departmental Procedures.
- Input on selection of all needed analyzers, including on-site validation if acquired.
- Departmental Q.A.S.
- Attendance at all relevant meetings, pathways, subcommittees.
- Present/make available CMEs at least six (6) times per year.
- Competencies for pertinent departments.

Education/Experience Required:
- B.S., B.A.
- Bachelor's Degree in related field required
- Medical Technologist required
- 4+ years of laboratory experience required
- Supervisory/Management experience required
Registration/Certification:
- ASCP/NCA Written
Physical/Environmental Requirements:
This job requires frequent bending, carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping, walking and lifting over 10 lbs. There will be occasional need for climbing stairs, lifting in excess of 50 100 lbs and sitting. Constant use of hearing, sight and speech. Frequent use of smell and touch. Frequent keyboard and telephone use. Constant concentration and problem solving.
