Job Description

The Research Associate will, under general supervision, perform independent or supervisory roles in research activities requiring an advanced level of knowledge in mouse molecular genetics, tissue culture, and laboratory management and compliance, are predominantly intellectual and varied in character, and require consistent use of discretion and judgment. The qualiified candidate may prepare proposals for funding agencies, operate research equipment, and supervise other lab personnel in research.
Duties:
50% Research

-Designs, plans, conducts and coordinates experiments in support of various research projects using mouse models, tissue culture, and stem cells.

-Evaluates, selects, and applies standard techniques of routine research, keeping detailed records of data.
-Installs, operates, and/or repairs research equipment.
-Assists in planning and coordinating research projects.
-Uses computers and laboratory or technical equipment to perform data analysis, statistical analysis, and technical evaluation of research experiments and results.
-Evaluates and summarizes experiment results.
-Prepares and writes proposals to funding agencies and maintains financial accounts related to research projects.

-Assists in the preparation of peer reviewed scientific manuscript.
25% Laboratory management
Manages daily laboratory operations.
Maintains safety and compliance.
20% Training
Trains undergraduate and/or graduate students and other laboratory, technical or

5% Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience plus two years of related experience in specialized and relevant field of research

Preferred Education and Experience
- MS degree in relevant field

- Experience with laboratory management and compliance

- Experience including mouse models and tissue culture.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

-Familiarity with appropriate laboratory and/or technical equipment
-Ability to effectively utilize a computer and applicable software to create databases, perform statistical analyses, present data and perform other computer related tasks.

-Ability to multi task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

-Mouse molecular genetics

-Stem call management
