The Bio-Chemical Engineer works alongside the production team in order to establish a cost effective and safe biological program. The Bio-Chemical Engineer is directly responsible for the management of all biological systems and processes within the mill division. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Bio-Chemical Engineer's primary responsibilities as part of the mill operational team include, but are not limited to: Install, commission and drive the operation of biocide systems and processes Additional duties as assigned by management EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Bio-Chemical Engineering Experience with paper mill biology LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, manuals, regulations, and codes Ability to write business reports and correspondence Ability to communicate effectively with suppliers, contractors, and employees Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public TECHNICAL SKILLS Chemistry Papermaking Papermaking Chemistry Microsoft Office Products Computer Literacy Troubleshooting Process Engineering Mechanical aptitude Electrical aptitude PHYSICAL DEMANDS Employee is regularly required to walk, talk, and hear Employee is frequently required to stand; use hands, feel; and reach with hands and arms The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds Vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus Ability to operate mobile equipment such as forklifts and booms Ability to work at heights Travel up to 50% WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
