The Postdoctoral Research Associate, under general supervision, conducts research into their field of expertise. Utilizes the skills and expertise granted to them by their education and experience to complete research projects in their field of expertise. Writes and may contribute to research papers, articles, and publications. Assists with the preparation and cleaning of worksite. May collaborate with other researchers and/or faculty.

Salary: Will be commensurate based on the selected hires education and experience.

Schedule: May have to work on the weekend and/or after normal hours.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Appropriate PhD in a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with animal husbandry and special housing.

  • In vitro electrophysiology techniques such as patch clamping and brain slice preparation.

  • Immunohistochemistry experience with confocal imaging and 3-dimensional analysis of morphology of neurons and/or glia.

  • First author publications.

  • Experience with Multiclamp 200B and 700B type amplifiers or comparable, Axoclamp 900A amplifiers or comparable, and PClamp software or equivalent.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written skills.

  • Presentation skills.

  • Analytical skills.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Multiclamp 200B and 700B type amplifiers or comparable,

  • Axoclamp 900A amplifiers or comparable, and PClamp software or equivalent.

  • DSI radio telemetry systems or equivalent.

  • Confocal laser scanning microscope such as a Ziess 880 or equivalent and Huygen deconvolution software.

Responsibilities

Research

  • Under general supervision, conducts research into their field of expertise.

Professional Development, Service and Presentations

  • Participates in professional development workshops and attends Society based webinars.

  • Reviews manuscripts for journals.

Mentoring

  • May assist, mentor, and/or supervise student researchers and/or graduate students who are working on research related to the project.
