Formulation Chemist Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented entry-level formulation chemist to join our team. This entry-level position is designed to support and enhance the overall productivity of our laboratory. The role involves specialized activities in advanced testing, specification testing, quality assurance investigation, and scale-up support.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize advanced analytical equipment for characterization and problem-solving.
  • Evaluate coating systems to specifications or other test requirements using ASTM or other test methods.
  • Prepare and test samples to support customer complaint investigations, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Assist in the scale-up activities of new or difficult-to-manufacture formulations in the plant.
  • Ensure compliance with all record-keeping and documentation requirements supporting laboratory activities.
  • Provide technical assistance to internal departments and customers.
  • Maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry.
  • Experience in scale-up and formulation.
  • Prior chemical testing experience.
  • Physical testing experience (corrosion/weathering).
  • Salt/humidity testing experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Quality control and assurance knowledge.
  • Laboratory and analytical chemistry skills.
  • Experience with titration, inspection, and wet chemistry.
  • Data entry proficiency.

Work Environment

The position is based at the R&D Center of Excellence, operating Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM. This brand-new facility is where all R&D for RPM brands are completed.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of NA, North Carolina.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $29.00/hr.
