Lead foundational research initiatives in robotic systems with focus on advancing motor optimization, dynamic simulation, and control architectures. Drive innovation in mechanical and sensing systems that enable next-generation robotics capabilities. Develop novel approaches to system design and validation while mentoring a team of researchers and engineers. Work closely with hardware, software, and controls teams to translate research insights into practical robotics solutions.

Key job responsibilities
- Lead research programs in robotics systems optimization, focusing on actuator performance, dynamic control, and system architecture
- Develop and validate novel approaches to motor characterization and optimization
- Create advanced simulation frameworks for evaluating robotic system dynamics and control strategies
- Design and implement experimental protocols for validating research hypotheses
- Guide the development of mechanical and sensor architectures optimized for learning-based control systems
- Mentor research team members and provide technical leadership across multiple projects
- Collaborate with hardware and software teams to translate research findings into implementable solutions
- Define research roadmaps that align with organizational goals and technological capabilities
- Evaluate emerging technologies and methodologies for potential application in robotics systems

About the team
The Hardware Advanced Products team brings new-to-world and robotic products to life. We contributed to Amazon Astro ( and Echo Show 10 ( along with several new technology introductions and unannounced products currently in development.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of investigating the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to business problems and products experience
- Bachelor's degree, or Master's degree and 5+ years of quantitative field research experience
- Experience communicating qualitative research methods and findings to non-qualitative researchers

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience converting research studies into tangible real-world changes
- Experience with discrete and continuous optimization methodologies and algorithms

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $143,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $247,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
