In addition to providing instrumentation, The Flow Core also has a critical full service pipeline of drop off projects mostly involving human blood clinical trials. After training there will be a wide array of potential procedures and projects available for applicants. These will include validations and optimization of large immunophenotyping panels along with instrument calibration and quality control. The department may choose to hire at any of the below job levels and associated pay rates based on their business need and budget. Responsibilities Assist with daily operations of the flow cytometry core facility, including instrument startup and shutdown procedures Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of flow cytometers and associated equipment Prepare samples for analysis, including cell staining, washing, and filtering under supervision Support basic flow cytometry data acquisition using established protocols Help organize and track samples, reagents, and laboratory supplies Maintain accurate records of instrument usage, maintenance logs, and experimental data Assist in quality control procedures to ensure proper instrument performance Provide general laboratory support, including buffer preparation and waste disposal following safety guidelines Help manage inventory and notify staff of low-stock supplies Ensure compliance with laboratory safety standards and institutional policies Assist researchers and lab staff with basic troubleshooting and workflow setup Participate in training sessions to develop technical skills in flow cytometry and related laboratory methods Maintain cleanliness and organization of the core facility workspace Perform other administrative or lab-related duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT : 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience). Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels: Laboratory Technician, I: Requires little to no related experience. Preferences This is an entry level position and on the job training is provided. The ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions; the ability to keep accurate records; and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required. A general knowledge of laboratory procedures, equipment and terminology; the ability to operate and care for laboratory equipment; and a knowledge of appropriate specimen handling techniques preferred. An interest in Immunology/Cancer biology is preferred.
